Different Missions Need Different Outputs

Commercial Industry
Commercial field operations can require a deeper level of processing and reporting.
Depending on the application, GAR Data Lab can turn Riparian USV data into processed imagery, bathymetric maps, sediment-thickness mapping, water and basin measurements, sediment-volume calculations, and more extensive technical reporting.
The depth of the deliverable depends on what the project requires rather than on a single standardized reporting package.
For dredging and related applications, that can mean bringing multiple datasets together to document existing water depth, basin conditions, sediment accumulation, project changes, and other information useful to planning or evaluating the work.
The objective is to organize what was collected in the field into a deliverable that supports the decisions and work that come next.
Typical processing target: approximately 72 hours for commercial-related work.
Search & Recovery
For nonprofit search-and-recovery organizations using Riparian USVs, the need is often direct: turn collected side-scan data into a clear mosaic that the search team can examine.
GAR Data Lab processes the sonar data collected during Riparian-supported SAR operations into Side Scan Mosaic PNG files, allowing the specialists conducting the search to review the imagery and determine what within the scan warrants further attention.
Riparian’s role is intentionally specific.
The customer deploys the USV, collects the data, and process it. Search-and-recovery professionals interpret the contents.
That division allows each team to contribute the expertise it brings to the mission.
Because this processing supports Riparian’s volunteer work with qualifying nonprofit SAR organizations, a formal technical report is generally unnecessary; the processed mosaic is often the deliverable the team actually needs before they actively provide the recovery mission.
Typical processing target: Less than 24 hours for SAR work.

01
Bathymetric Maps
Our bathymetric maps show the current water depth across your entire pond, lake, or reservoir, built from thousands of sonar readings collected along precise, GPS-guided survey lines. Color-coded contours make it easy to spot deep holes, shallow shelves, and changes in the bottom at a glance, along with calculated water volume and average and maximum depths.
03
Sediment Estimates
We measure how much silt has built up between the water column and the hard bottom. The result is a color-coded thickness map with calculated sediment volumes in cubic yards and acre-feet, the numbers you need to plan, budget, and verify dredging work.
05
SAR Team Mosaics
Nonprofit search and rescue teams using a Riparian Systems USV receive side scan mosaic imagery of their search area free of charge. This imaging-only deliverable gives teams a clear, stitched view of the bottom to review coverage and identify potential targets, without a written report or additional analysis.
02
Hard Pan Map
The hard pan map reveals the original, firm bottom of your basin beneath any accumulated silt. Using low-frequency sonar that penetrates soft sediment, we chart the true shape of the basin and calculate its total capacity, giving you a baseline for how the water body was built to hold water.
04
Side Scan Mosaics
Side scan sonar produces a detailed, photo-like image of the bottom, stitched together into a single georeferenced mosaic of your survey area. It reveals submerged structures, debris, dredge cuts, and bottom texture that depth maps alone can't show, and it can be overlaid with our hard pan or sediment maps for a complete picture of what's under the water.

Full Digital Reports
A full digital report, giving a clear, detailed picture of what lies beneath the surface. Depth maps, sonar imagery, underwater features, and key measurements are combined into one easy-to-read document. These reports are not certified or stamped by a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). They are designed to put accurate, high-quality underwater data within reach of any organization, at a price that makes sense.
